What a liquidation price is trying to answer

Suppose an account has $8,000 of equity, one long contract entered at 5,200, maintenance margin of $1,500, a $200 reserve for fees and execution, and a contract value of $50 per index point. These values are illustrative; verify the current specification and broker schedule.

The result says only that a 126-point adverse move would consume the stated cushion under the assumptions. It does not say the broker will liquidate exactly at 5,074, or that an order can be filled there.
Why the displayed estimate can move
The estimate changes when any input changes:
1. **Other positions:** Cross-margin can use gains and losses elsewhere in the account, and correlated positions can consume the same cushion. 2. **Margin schedule:** A broker or exchange can raise requirements before an announcement, at a session boundary, or when volatility increases. Liquidation is not the same as a margin call
